Sharing stages

You share a stage as a file. The other person imports the file in the app, and the stage appears in their library. There are no share codes and no search for other people's stages.

A stage file is named <stage name>.rtstage. It holds the stage definition: the type, the start and finish signals, the speed limits or the speed chart, and the options. It does not hold who made it. The importer gets their own private copy.

Send a stage

  1. Open Stages in the Library group of the drawer.
  2. Tap the share icon on the row of the stage. The share icon in the editor of a saved stage does the same.
  3. The phone's share sheet opens with the file. Send it with a messaging app, mail, AirDrop, a cloud drive or any other target.

Only a saved stage can be shared. Save it first. Special characters in the stage name, for instance Õ or Ü, are kept in the file name.

Import a stage

The app does not open .rtstage files by itself from a mail or a chat. First save the file on the phone, then import it:

  1. Save the attachment to the phone: Files on iPhone, Downloads on Android.
  2. In the app open Stages and tap the upload icon in the app bar, Import stage.
  3. Pick the file. The file picker does not filter by extension, so find the file by its name.
  4. A dialog shows the name, the Stage type, the number of Sections and the Total distance (when the sections have known lengths). Tap Import.
  5. The snackbar says Imported: name. The stage is a new stage in your library.

Import saves the stage to your account. A guest has an account automatically, see Account and sign-in.

If the file cannot be used, a message says why:

Message Meaning
Not a stage file The file is not a Rally Tripmeter stage.
Could not parse file The file could not be read.
This stage file needs a newer version of the app The file was made by a newer app. Update the app.

A stage file larger than 1 MB is refused.

Sharing with the driver

When the co-driver builds the stage, send it to the driver's phone before the event. The driver imports it and starts it from the stage sheet with Load. Change the start time on the driver's phone, as a saved start time is kept.
