Regularity formats

Regularity rallies are not timed the same way everywhere. This section has one page per country or format, each with the stage setup and the buttons to press. Read the guide first, then the page for your event.

Read the event's regulations

Each event's own regulations override its federation's rules. Several events ban devices like this app, and some penalise crews that use one. Nothing on these pages says the app is legal at an event. This app is a crew aid, not official timing.

Not yet checked by competitors

Every page is written from the published rules and cites its sources. None has yet been read by a competitor from that format. Items the published rules do not settle are marked open on each page.

The one question: cumulative or re-base

Does the ideal time restart at each time control, or does it run on from the start of the test?

  • Cumulative. The target at any point is the start time plus the distance from the start divided by the imposed average. A mistake early in the test stays visible. France, Italy's prove di media, Spain, Portugal, Belgium and the Netherlands work this way.
  • Re-base. The target restarts from your time at each control. A mistake at one control is forgotten at the next. India, Italian chained PCs, Japan, the UK and the USA work this way.

In the app you decide with the button you press. A button that records a TC re-bases the ideal time: Next Section + Restart, Sync + Restart, a long press on the Ideal Time, the TC button (custom layouts) and Quick TC. The new start is the moment of your press plus the Restart time you choose. Next Section and Sync do not record a TC. If you press no TC button, the ideal time stays cumulative. In a cumulative test you press nothing at a secret check. The details are in Driving a test and Time controls and re-bases.

Recipes

The app has no format settings. The pages are recipes made of the normal stage settings and the buttons above. A Regularity stage has one option, Auto-switch sections by distance. It is a separate choice from the timing: automatic and manual sections both have a plain button and a + Restart button, so either works with cumulative or restarted timing. See Two separate choices. Every section change, by distance or by hand, moves the stage trip to the section boundary and resets the Section Trip.

The recipes group into five:

  • Continental cumulative (France, Italy PM, Spain, Portugal, Benelux): a Time start, sections by distance, Sync where the average changes, no TC inside the test.
  • UK re-base: a TC at each timing point, Restart time 0.
  • Italian PC chain: a TC at each tube, targets in time.
  • US TSD: a TC at each control with the Restart time set to the assigned out time.
  • Re-base plus dead time (India, Japan): a TC at each control with the Restart time set to the dead time or +60s.

What the app cannot do in any format

  • A pressed TC takes the exact moment of your press, so it is only as accurate as your thumb. A time you type is in whole seconds. The display shows tenths of a second under one minute, never hundredths.
  • It has no setting for rounding or truncation, or for "early is worse". The display is the same for early and late, apart from the sign.
  • It cannot add or subtract a fixed time (pause, gain, allowance, lateness relief). The Restart time of a TC only shifts the schedule after that TC. It does not correct the leg before it, where the delay or the allowance belongs.
  • It cannot switch sections by elapsed time. It switches by distance, or by hand.
  • It cannot know where secret checks are.

Before you rely on this app

Read the event's regulations on electronic devices. Look for bans on GPS, smartphones, ahead/behind indicators, rally computers and average tables, and for penalty factors on crews that use them. If the regulations are silent, ask the organiser. Nothing on these pages is a ruling.
