Liaisons and the time card

Between stages you must reach each time control (TC) within the allowed time. Liaison mode counts down to the next control and keeps your last TC, the allowed time and your trips on one screen.

Liaison mode

In the drawer, open Stage rally and tap Liaison. The screen shows:

  • Last TC, Allowed Time and Next TC in the top row;
  • Time to TC, the countdown to the next control;
  • Trip 1 and Trip 2, to follow the roadbook distance;
  • Speed and Trip 2 AVG, the average speed since you last reset Trip 2.

Time to TC counts down in whole seconds. It reaches 00:00 at the moment the control is due. After that it counts below zero, with a minus sign.

The countdown uses the Rally Time in the app bar, so set that to the official clock first (see the Quick start). Liaisons are on public roads, so watch the Speed against the local limit.

Liaison is a Pro mode. Without a Pro plan it runs on the free daily Pro fuel; when that is used up, the mode pauses until the next day. See Licences and plans. The ? in the app bar has a Quick guide for the Simple times.

Simple or Time card

Tap Last TC, Allowed Time, Next TC or Time to TC to open the Time controls sheet. At the top, choose Simple or Time card.

Simple is for one liaison at a time. Set two values:

  1. Tap Last TC and enter the time of the control you have just passed.
  2. Tap Allowed Time and enter the allowed time to the next control.

The app adds the two and shows the Next TC and the Time to TC. For the next liaison, enter new values.

Time card is for the whole day. Enter every control once, from your time card, and the app moves to the next control by itself as the clock passes each one.

  1. Tap Add TC. The first control is the Initial TC, a fixed clock time. It is the reference for the others.
  2. Tap Add TC for each further control. For each one choose Fixed time (a clock time, for example when the organiser prints the times) or Allowed Time (the time allowed from the previous control).
  3. Type a name for each control in the field at the start of its row, for example "TC3". Tap a control to change its time. The name stays.
  4. Use the minus icon to remove a control. The bin icon on the first control resets the whole time card. Both ask you to confirm.

If you already entered times in Simple, an empty time card starts from them: the Last TC becomes the initial TC, and the Allowed Time the next control.

The first time you switch to Time card, the app offers a Quick guide for it. Later you find it under the ? at the top of the sheet, next to the User Manual.

An Allowed Time control is calculated from the scheduled time of the previous control, not from when you actually arrived. If a stage is delayed and the organiser changes a time, edit that control and change it to a Fixed time. A warning icon marks a fixed time that is earlier than the control before it.

The time card is not saved

The times you enter in Simple and Time card are kept only while the app is running. If the app is closed or restarted, for example after a crash or a phone restart, you must enter them again. Keep your paper time card at hand.

Arriving at a control

  1. Arrive at the control and wait for the time it is due. In many rallies arriving early is penalised. Wait somewhere safe, off the road.
  2. Get your time at the control. In Simple, enter it as the new Last TC, and enter the next Allowed Time. In Time card, the app has already moved on to the next control.
  3. Tap the screen to reset Trip 1 for the next section of the roadbook. A long press resets Trip 1 and Trip 2.

The Bluetooth button actions Quick TC and Next Section act on a running stage. They do not change the liaison time card.

Next: the stage

At the start of the stage, switch to Race in the drawer and set up the stage. See Timing a stage.
